Get to Know Me:
Gwen Preston, RP
Ontario Therapist
I’m Gwen — a Registered Psychotherapist working with adults and teens across Ontario who are navigating anxiety, grief, burnout, or a major life transition. My clients are often high achievers, caregivers, or helping professionals who hold it together on the outside but feel stuck, exhausted, or disconnected underneath. If that sounds familiar, you're in the right place. My approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — practical, values-driven work that builds real skills, not just insight. I have many tools on my wall, and our work together is about figuring out which ones actually fit you — building a flexible, personalized toolkit you'll keep using long after we've stopped working together. I also offer walk & talk therapy outdoors for clients who want a less clinical, more grounded setting. Additionally, through the Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Clinic (PMVC), I can connect you with a psychiatrist for diagnostic assessments — including ADHD and ASD — while keeping your therapy continuous and coordinated. All sessions are virtual, available to anyone in Ontario.
I use integrated techniques tailored to each client. I use strategies from therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness based cognitive therapy (MBCT), with a basis in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). I'll often say that I have many tools on my wall; and our goal is to build you a tailored, nuanced, and flexible toolbox by figuring out which of those tools are suited to you! Ideally in many situations, including long after we've stopped working together.
